American Samoa police get more new officers

In American Samoa, sixty new police officers will be added to the Department of Public Safety using funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Announcing the openings, Commissioner of Public Safety Tuaolo Fruean invited those interested in becoming police officers to submit applications to the Department of Human Resources.

Those selected will go through a police academy.

The ARRA funding was awarded through the Criminal Justice Planning Agency to boost law enforcement especially in villages.
