The Solomon Islands National Elections, due to be held this year, are likely to need another US$800,000.
The Chief Electrol Officer, Polycap Haununu, says so far the commission has been given a fifth of the US$1.2 million allocated for the administration of the National Elections.
He says they have been promised more this week.
Mr Haununu says the budget has been slashed by a fifth because the
government is facing financial problems.
Despite these issues he says the registration period is on track to begin in two weeks time.
And he is calling on all Solomon Islanders of voting age to ensure they are registered.
