Fiji's interim foreign minister, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, says the European Union has reaffirmed his country's right to benefit from the Regional European Development Fund.
This is despite the Pacific Island Forum suspending Fiji from all regional trade negotiations.
Ratu Inoke said the EU was still in talks with Fiji in regards to assistance set aside for regional trade.
He said Fiji's engagement with the EU in the negotiations of a comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, or EPA, also remained intact.
Ratu Inoke said the Forum's stance had impinged on Fiji's right to participate in talks in these areas.
But he told Fiji Live the EU, in consultation with all parties, had facilitated a satisfactory solution to address what he called this illegal situation.
