12:55 pm on 11 August 2009

Samoa police officers will now to be stationed at the Royal New Zealand Air Force or RNZAF camp at Faleolo.

The decision follows the theft of property belonging to the New Zealand military which has set up camp there as part of Exercise Tropic Astra 09.

The Assistant Police Commissioner, Papali'i Li'o, has told the Samoa Observer that three boys under the age of 18 from Satapuala have been charged with theft.

They will appear in court on Thursday.

Papali'i says the Satapuala village council has also dealt with the boys using what are being described as Samoan methods.

The military exercise is an annual event designed to provide readiness training in tropical flying operations.
