Papua New Guinea's prime minister has dismissed the opposition party's attempt at a vote of no-confidence with the coalition party heads swearing allegiance to the government.

Sir Michael Somare held a press conference yesterday with 57 members of government and each party leader, who represent various numbers of members.

Sir Michael said they still have the numbers.

He also said that they will be in parliament today to show their strength.

Sir Michael added that only four or five government members were talking with the opposition.
