Tokelau's leader pushes for 100 per cent solar power

Tokelau's leader is aiming for his nation to become completely self sufficient energywise.

Foua Toloa says his low lying nation is one of those that could be badly hit by the imapct of climate change.

But he says he is trying to use the climate change message to create a positive outcome for Tokelau

"I have been pushing the issue of one hundred per cent solar, so by February next year we'll try to beat every nation in the world to become the first country to be energy renewable completely run by solar and a little bit of coconut ut oil."
