Samoa road switch on track despite pending legal challenge

Samoa's Land Transport Authority is moving ahead with its detailed preparations for the road switch in five weeks despite the pending court cases against the switch.

The Secretary for Road Transport, Tusa Tupuola Misi, says bus operators have been told they must switch the doors of their buses from the right to the left hand side.

Tusa says this applies for both the wooden and ready made buses.

He has told the Talamua online news service that tour buses are exempted because they only travel to designated destinations without having to stop regularly on the public road.

As an incentive, the ministry is offering free licenses for all public transport for the month of September.
