The Governor of Guam Felix Camacho says he will raise with federal authorities the alleged harassment of travellers from the Northern Marianas at Guam airport, and he is encouraging the CNMI Government to do the same.
Some CNMI travelers, including businessmen, green card holders and others who enter or transit through Guam, have reported harassment from Guam's immigration and other enforcement officers.
One traveller, a Japanese businessman who has run major investments in the Northern Marianas for years, has complained of foul language and rude gestures from a Guam airport enforcement officer.
Customs and immigration personnel on Guam are federal employees and are not under the authority of the local government.
Mr Camacho says there is no room for bigotry, prejudice, abusive language or mistreatment of citizens or any visitors.
