Samoa will soon join other countries already linked to the under water marine fibre optic cable when the completion of the project will be launched sometime this week.

This will come after several months of works to lay the cable when it reached Samoa's shores from Hawaii two months ago.

The fibre optic cable will speed up internet and telephone communications from the Pacific island state to many parts of the world.

The project was first raised during Inter-Samoa talks between Prime Minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, and American Samoa's Governor, Togiola Tulafono.
