Reporters Without Borders says the arrest of two journalists by the Fiji military led regime at the weekend was another warning shot for press freedom.
The agency has condemned the arrest of journalists, Shelvin Chand and Dionisia Turagabeci, under emergency regulations which place stringent controls on media.
The journalists had written articles that showed the regime in a negative light.
They had run stories that eight soldiers and a policeman convicted of manslaughter had been released from lengthy prison terms after just weeks in jail.
The reporters were released on Monday and admonished to write only positive stories about the regime.
Reporters Without Borders is urging the Fiji government to repeal the emergency measures.
