A former Samoan cabinet minister serving a life sentence for the assasination of another minister, Toi Aukuso, has been admitted to the Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital in critical condition.
The minister's wife, Pauline Aukuso told the Samoa Observer that her husband has
been "sleeping for almost three days." She refused to say if he was in a coma. She
said that her husband needs constant care at this stage.
Toi, 77, and another Minister Leafa Vitale are serving life sentences at Tafa'igata
Prison for plotting the murder of their colleague, Luagalau Levaula Kamu.
He was assassinated in 1999.
The Leader of the Tautua Party Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi recently asked in Parliament for Toi to be granted Sunday parole.
The MP now represents the district which Toi served in Parliament.
The request however was criticied by the MP from Luagalau's district Tapuai Sepulona Moananu.
