SUNGO in Samoa calls for families to honour Earth Hour

10:13 am on 28 March 2009

The Samoa Umbrella for Non Government Organisations or SUNGO has asked families in Samoa to turn off their lights for one hour tomorrow in support of Earth Hour 2009.

SUNGO President, Vaasiliifiti Moelagi Jackson, says that SUNGO supports the initiative by Worldwide Fund for Nature.

Groups taking part in the initiative are the SUNGO Environmental Thematic Group, which consists of O Le Siosiomaga Society, Faasao Savaii Society, METI Environment Trust, and Beekeepers Association.

Vaasiliifiti says that Earth Hour is one of the few opportunities presented to people worldwide to make a statement about the state of the environment.
