Guam's port is getting three new cranes to help manage the influx of activity that will accompany the United States' military build-up.
The three gantry cranes, purchased by Horizon Lines and Matson Navigation Company for about 15 US dollars in December 2007 from the Port of Los Angeles, arrived this week from Los Angeles.
The Pacific Daily News reports the Port Authority of Guam's General Manager, Glenn Leon Guerrero, as saying this is the first step in the port's modernisation plan.
The plan calls for a 195 million dollar improvement to the port.
