The Papua New Guinea Government has donated around 1.3 million US dollars to the Australian Government for disaster relief in Queensland and Victoria.
The PNG Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare, says he was extremely shocked by the toll exacted on the people of Queensland and Victoria by the flooding and fires.
He says PNG remembers the numerous times the Australian government and people have stood by his country during its time of need.
PNG receives several hundred million dollars a year in aid assistance from Australia.
