An American Samoa lawmaker Larry Sanitoa has won public support for his request to House leadership to consider airing on local television the House sessions and committee hearings.
Several residents say the community has a right to see what House of Representatives members are doing, especially as they are highly paid but only in session 45 days a year.
Sanitoa says he still believes House sessions and hearings should be broadcast either on government owned KZVK-TV or cable television in the evening.
He says during and after last year's election, his constituents and members of the public asked him about this issue.
The House leadership has yet to make a decision on the request.
