The American Samoa Government has made two efforts to try and reverse a High Court ruling last Friday which stopped the administration from sending MV Sili and MV Manuatele to Hawaii for servicing.
One motion seeks to lift the court's preliminary injunction, while another asks for a reconsideration or a new trial.
The operators of the local shipyard want the government to follow local procurement law and solicit bids for the overhaul of the two vessels.
But the Assistant Attorney General Timothy Fadgen says it's the government's position that it has now taken steps to comply with the procurement law.
He says the Department of Port Administration has now been granted authority by the Chief Procurement officer to issue a sole source contract to the Hawaii shipyard lined up to repair the vessels.
