Fiji's Vatukoula community is still waiting for the release of over 850,000 US dollars from the 3.4 million US dollar trust fund for their rehabilitation, that was set up after the mine closed in 2006.
The Vatukoula Rehabilitation Committee member, Dr Epeli Nailatikau, said that since the trust fund was established nothing had been given to those directly affected when the mine closed.
This was despite the assurance from interim Lands Minister last year it was going to be released.
However the minister told the Fiji Times that money wouldn't be released until taxation issues are sorted.
