Air Pacific expands services into Australia despite economic downturn

Fiji's national airline, Air Pacific, says it believes it will benefit from expanding its flights into Australia, despite the economic downturn.

Air Pacific currently has 22 weekly flights from Fiji to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, and last week welcomed two additional flights to and from the Gold Coast.

Its Sales and Marketing general manager, Michael Nacola says the company's new service will be successful with the help of other industry stakeholders, such as Tourism Fiji Now.

"We are quietly confident that with the support of all the industry partners that the service will be able to become a kind of addition to the network but it will require a considered effort amongst the key players to ensure to work together closely to drive the much needed numbers from Australia."
