A Fiji judge says judge shopping is the most serious problem facing the judiciary in modern Fiji.
The Fiji Times reports Justice Nazhat Shameem as saying the legal profession is noticeably quiet on the subject of judge shopping - a process by which lawyers try to pick a particular judge to hear their cases.
Justice Shameem says one of the mechanisms for preventing judicial corruption is to appoint judges and magistrates on merit.
She made the comments at the Transparency International workshop on access to justice in Lautoka this week.
