Fiji's National Federation Party has called on former interim finance minister Mahendra Chaudhry to explain the blow-out in the military budget.
The revised budget for 2007 shows that the military, which seized power in 2006, overspent its allocation by 25 million US dollars.
According to a report in the Fiji Times, the NFP has asked Mr Chaudhry to explain the figures, labelling them daylight robbery of taxpayer funds.
Mr Chaudhry, who was a member of the interim regime until last August, says Fiji was in a crisis situation and the military had to carry out operations that were not provided for in the budget.
Mr Chaudhry says there was no fraud as claimed by the NFP nor was he sleeping on the job.
