Port Courier banned from PNG budget launch

2:09 pm on 19 November 2008

The Post Courier newspaper was shut out of the Papua New Guinea Government's lock up ahead of the Budget announcement yesterday.

The paper says the unprecedented ban was prompted by the Post-Courier's articles on the Budget last Friday and on Monday.

It says Treasurer Patrick Pruaitch issuing a directive to bar the Post-Courier to teach it a lesson.

The National Alliance Government has been at loggerheads with the Post Courier for the past year, over its coverage of the Julian Moti affair, the controversies in the Finance Department and reports alleging a Government Minister has a secret bank account in Singapore holding money skimmed off logging exports.
