2:11 pm on 12 November 2008

Samoa's former Minister of Health, Mulitalo Siafausa Vui, has appeared in the district court on a charge of carrying a dangerous weapon.

The charge follows a land dispute involving the former politician and a high ranking orator in Vaimoso village.

According to the police, the accused was armed with a rifle at the time of the dispute.

The weapon has been confiscated.

Mulitalo, who is now a Public Service Commissioner, has not yet entered a plea because police are yet to finalise the charges.

The case has been adjourned to November 25th for the police to complete the inquiries and for the accused to answer the charges.
