Efforts to build up the capacity of Pacific media reporting on climate change in the region get underway today.
As long as reporters fully understand the issues involved, they will be able to report accurately to the public on the plight small island states face.
The week long training starts a day prior to regional roundtable talks on the issue

"Organised by SPREP the aim is to upskill journalists on a number of issues relating to climate change. Its hoped that by showing journalists specific examples from around the region on just how much of an effect climate change is having on environments in the Pacific they will be in a better position to report on it. The Canadian government, UNESCO and PINA are also supporting the training initiative that will run parallel to the Pacific Climate Change Roundtable meeting."
