Fiji's ousted Prime Minister has written to the United Nations, urging it to be cautious about the address to be made by Fijis interim Prime Minister.

Commodore Frank Bainimarama will be promoting the draft Peoples' Charter at the 63rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly tomorrow afternoon.

The Fiji Times reports the that Laisenia Qarase, in a letter to the UN's Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, expressed his concerns that Commodore Bainimarama will make the UN General Assembly a forum for what he calls the propaganda and disinformation that is the hallmark of the regime.

Mr Qarase says the inclusion of the charter in the interim Prime Minister's address to the Assembly is nothing more than a bid to gain some kind of validation and legitimacy for a proposal which is in breach of the principles and ideals of the UN.
