Post Mortem ordered after woman's death in Samoa

The police in Samoa have asked the coroner to order a post mortem to confirm the cause of death of a 38 year old woman after what they regarded as an unsatisfactory medical report.

The police domestic violence unit says the woman was admitted to hospital for medical care after she was allegedly beaten by her husband.

However the assistant police commissioner, Papalii Li'o, says the medical report says the woman choked to death after having a meal at the hospital.

The assistant commissioner says the deceased had suffered serious injuries to her body and the post mortem is required to confirm the cause of her death.

The husband has been charged with one count of assault
