Transparency International in Solomon Islands says the government shouldn't restrict media freedom in the country.
This comes after the government posed restrictions on how the media could report this month's congress to discuss changes towards a federalised constitution.
Members of the media have signed a memorandum, boycotting the government's plans.
The organisation's executive officer, Jean Tafoa, says the government must allow transparency about what's being discussed in the congress.
"The government should not restrict the media from accessing this congress, because they're dealing with things important to the lives of people in Solomon Islands. They should allow that people in Solomon Islands should know what's happening or being talked about in the congress."
Jean Tafoa says there shouldn't be any restrictions.
