Police claim that the family of church pastor in Samoa, Joseph Hansel, who is alleged to have attempted to rape a woman member of his congregation, has approached the victim to have her withdraw the accusation.
The man appeared in court today and has again been remanded into police custody.
He is to appear in court again in two weeks when police will finalize the charges.
In today's preliminary hearing the prosecution strongly opposed the man's release on bail saying Mr Hansel's family had approached the victim and asked for her complaint to be withdrawn.
But Mr Hansel's lawyer told the court that the two parties had reconciled with the victim deciding not to pursue the matter further.
