The French Polynesian president, Gaston Tong Sang, has rejected a demand to sack two ministers of the Aia Api party which is one of nine parties making up the ruling coalition.
The coalition relies on Aia Api's support which had been briefly withdrawn during the budget debate.
Mr Tong Sang says he is still in discussions with the Aia Api leader, Emile Vernaudon, who demanded a governent re-shuffle, saying the two no longer represent party values.
One of them is Fernand Roomataaroa who became the agriculture minister in May in the second cabinet re-shuffle by Mr Tong Sang who formed his government a month earlier.
Mr Roomataaroa told a local newspaper that Mr Vernaudon forced him to keep 15 staff of whom only two did any work.
The comment has prompted the administration to issue a statement and say that the running of a ministry leaves no room for negligence.
