Fiji's national carrier, Air Pacific, has marked its formal launch of two weekly flights to Tuvalu.

The airline uses an ATR turbo prop to service the Funafuti route on Tuesday and Thursdays.

Its chief executive and managing director, John Campbell, said there is potential to add a third service on Saturdays if demand grows.

Mr Campbell has told the Fiji Times that the airline is upgrading Funafuti travel service and airport systems to enable electronic ticketing and automated check-in, making travel to and from Funafuti more convenient.
