A former judge of the Internatioanal Criminal Court Tuiloma Neroni Slade has highlighted the importance of Samoa being a party to the ICC.

Tuiloma, a nominee for the Secretary General to the Pacific Forum, attended a seminar on the ICC which was organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross and Samoa's Attorney General's Office.

The two-day meeting brought together ministers and senior officials from across the Pacific.

Tuiloma told the Samoa Observer the ICC, provides "justice" if needed, for countries whose human "values" have been degraded because of criminal activities.

He said the this is important for Samoa because the court reflects many of the universal values and principles that Samoa believes.
