The Governor of Guam, Felix Camacho, has signed a letter of support for his country to host the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts in 2016.

Last week members of the Council of Pacific Arts unanimously endorsed Guams bid during their meeting at the Festival of Pacific Arts in American Samoa.

The Governor made a brief vist to Pago Pago to sign the letter before flying back the Samoa capital Apia to meet with US Secretary of State, Dr Condoleezza Rice.

He says Guam will have plenty of time to learn from the current festival in American Samoa and the next one in Solomon Islands in 2012.

Mr Camacho says he's confident Guam can meet the challenge of hosting the festival as it has hosted other major events such as the South Pacific Games in 1999.
