The American Samoa teacher, Patricia Tuimaleaaliifano Fuiava, has been one of ten teachers honoured at this year's Pacific Educational Conference in American Samoa
Close to a thousand delegates attended the four-day conference cohosted by the American Samoa Department of Education, Community College, and Pacific Resources for Education and Learning.
The Teachers of the Year awards have been part of the PEC since it began 25 years ago.
Tuimaleaaliifano says being recognised was humbling
"Not only because it's Pacific based, but because I know so many teachers here not only in American Samoa but around the Pacific who are great teachers and to be chosen to be a representative of all of them is extremely humbling."
