Members of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands today begin a second round of talks for this year that will pave the way for RAMSI to expand its operations in the country.

The Solomon Islands Government has expressed its desire for RAMSI to broaden its current mandate in strengthening law and order, and governance and institutional strengthening.

The Government wants RAMSI to also be involved in rural development and advancement.

Meetings of the RAMSI partners will discuss issues concerning the operations of RAMSI and ways of strengthening relationships within the grouping.
