A consortium of 15 Saudi Arabian investors is ready to take part in the Merauke Integrated Rice Estate in Indonesia's province of Papua.

An official told the Jakarta Post the group is ready to inject at least 65 million US dollars into the region.

The Agriculture Ministry's secretary-general, Hasanuddin Ibrahim, says each investor wants to open about 5,000 to 10,000 hectares of land in Merauke.

The Merauke Integrated Rice Estate is a programme designed to make the Merauke regency an integrated rice production complex.
