China's ambassador to Papua New Guinea says a trade and investment symposium this week is one of the most important events to explore bilateral business opportunities.
The PNG government, through the Investment Promotion Authority, has sponsored the four-day symposium which begins today.
About 50 Chinese business people are in Port Moresby for the symposium, which the ambassador Wei Ruixing, has welcomed as an opportunity for further cooperation.
"I think there's great potential for the two business communities to collaborate and I believe that increasing trade, expanding investment and cooperation in many other fields will help strengthen the bilateral relations between China and Papua New Guinea."
China's ambassador to PNG Wei Ruixing says areas of particular interest to China include mining, fisheries and agriculture.
