American Samoa may use Fotu o Samoa vessel again

American Samoa's Governor Toigola Tulafono has not ruled out the possibility of again chartering the Samoa government's Fotu o Samoa vessel to serve the Manu'a Island group.

With the local government MV Sili vessel at dry dock for the next two weeks before going to Honolulu for more work and certification.

The boat is not expected back in the territory until late July.

The Fotu o Samoa vessel has already left with food supplies and fuel for Manu'a.

Manu'a residents have had concerns about their lack of ocean transportation service over the last three weeks and said that all efforts are being made to address it.

He hinted at the possibility of again chartering the Fotu o Samoa in the event the second local government vessel MV Manuatele III isn't seaworthy.
