The Solomon Islands interim Police Commissioner claims Honiara is a safer place to dwell in than cities and towns of similar size in Australia and New Zealand.
Peter Marshall denies suggestions that the capital is becoming a dangerous city again.
This follows local media reports of a weekend when more than normal anti-social behaviour took place in Honiara.
More than 30 people were arrested at the weekend for offences all caused by alcohol misuse.
However Mr Marshall says it wasn't a bad weekend for crime.
"But over recent times we've increased the visibility of policing in Honiara. We have extra foot patrols out and working very closelty with our Particpating Police Force counterparts from RAMSI. And of course, if you have extra police officers out, we come across instances of drunkenness and arrest action occurs."
