As planned, Star Kist Samoa has discontinued free bus transportation for some workers following a wage increase forced on it.
The minimum wage for cannery employees went up 50 cents an hour in line with federal regualtions.
The cannery has also dismantled equipment in its second soft packaging production room.
But according to employees, there have been no layoffs in the first week of the wage hike.
The company vice president, Barry Mills, had told a Tax Exemption Board hearing that Star Kist would be laying off 100 employees at the end of May to offset the higher wage bill.
