Samoa's public television and an FM radio station could be run by Samoa Quality Broadcasting company before the end of this month.

It won the tender for privatising the public broadcaster.

The new owner has presented a cheque of just under 1 million US dollars to the Minister of Finance, Niko Lee Hang.

The Ministry of Finance says the handing over of the television and FM radio stations could take place within a week.

The government has decided to keep Radio 2AP to maintain a public service, especially for the conveying of information during natural disasters such as cyclones.
