The vice-president of French Polynesia's opposition Aia Api Party Christian Taupau has been sentenced to four months in jail for abuse of trust.
He was sentenced by the appeal court in Papeete which also fined him nearly 20000 US dollars.
He was found guilty of diverting money and falsifying cheques when he was in charge of a sports body.
Yesterday, the president of the Aia Api Party and mayor of Mahina, Emile Vernaudon, was released from jail after spending four months in prison as part of a corruption investigation.
