Samoa is to receive a new inter island ferry as a gift from Japan in 2010.

The new vessel will be used for travel between Upolu and Savaii islands.

Vaoga Manuao an official of Samoa Shipping Cooperation says a new ferry is needed on the busy domestic route.

The new ferry has all the features required for comfortable traveling including a first class section and a safer area for the seamen to stay.

Mr Manuao explains that traveling time will be reduced as the new vessel is much faster.
