The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat has cut its budget by fifteen percent.

The Forum Officials Committee, the Secretariat's governing body, has approved a revised 2008 budget and work programme of 25 million US dollars, down from 29 million.

The officials have noted that the Secretariat was facing extra pressures from an increasing range of activities, including the advancement of the Pacific Plan, and this put pressure on its financial resources.

They have asked that it reduce operational costs and prioritise initiatives.
