NZ's Peters awaits Fiji input at Forum ministers' talks in Auckland

The New Zealand foreign minister, Winston Peters, says it's important for Fiji to be represented at next week's Pacific Islands Forum foreign ministers' meeting in Auckland.

The talks are expected to be attended by six ministers, including Fiji's interim foreign minister, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.

Mr Peters says the discussions will raise the timetable to restore democracy after the 2006 military coup.

"It'll be of course of little value to have the Forum meeting without having the input from the Fijians as to what they believe their staged progress is towards an election by March 2009."
