Fiji's new interim Defence minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau says he wants to restore public confidence within the Military and Police force.
Ratu Epeli has told the fijilive website that one of the things he would try to work on is improve the relationship between the public and the military and police.
He officially starts work today in his new portfolio.
The former army commander was previously interim minister for Fijian Affairs.
