Fiji's interim Prime Minister has called on the former Prime Minister to stop criticizing his regime and assist instead.

The Fijilive website reports that Commodore Frank Bainimarama has again questioned why Laisenia Qarase refuses to contribute to the interim government's proposed People's Charter for Change and Progress.

Mr Qarase had also declined President Ratu Josefa Iloilo's invitation to be part of a national advisory body, the People's Council, which will sit for the first time next week.

He has said that the council is a waste of taxpayers' money because it is set up by an illegal regime.
