The Papua New Guinea government has signed a deal with the Tolukuma Gold Mine.

The mine's revised memorandum of agreement was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Mining, Dr Puka Temu.

Dr Temu told the Post Courier newspaper the Government supported the agreement and if the mining company did not deliver on what had been agreed, the agreement would be reviewed again.

However, the Central Province is not likely to get any benefits from the gold mine

The agreement was the first to be signed in 10 years and according to mine general manager Brad Samson.

It took the company, Woitape Local Level Government and landowners 15 months to come up with it.
