The Pacific Islands News Association, or PINA, has appointed Matai Akauola, as its new manager and training co-ordinator.
The position has been vacant since 2004 when the two regional media organisations - Pacific Islands Broadcasting Association and PINA merged .
Mr Akauola, who is the current news director for Fiji Broadcasting, is a radio representative on the PINA board.
The PINA President, Joseph Ealadona, says Mr Akauola has a a vast experience in both Fiji and regional media affairs, with 26 years in the industry.
