Niue's Business Round Table says it's time the island had an independent lawyer and accountant, and it's scouting for suitable candidates.
Its spokesman, Mark Cross, says the only people working in those professions in Niue at the moment are government employees, and there's a growing demand for independent advice - particularly around new tax laws.
He says the lawyer will also work on land court issues and a little criminal law.
Mr Cross says both positions would be part-time, and the Round Table hopes to find suitable candidates in New Zealand.
He says he would have thought someone would jump at the chance to spend the winter months in sunny Niue - or even settle there.
"It would be a lifestyle job as opposed to a money-making option, although we expect them to be remunerated sufficiently. But we envisage it for someone who is semi-retired or even a young person who wants a bit of adventure."
