The General Manager of South Korea's Asiana Airlines says its flights to the Northern Marianas have been a losing venture since they began operations in the Commonwealth.

Asiana general manager Kwang Joong Kim made the revelation in a presentation to the board of the Commonwealth Ports Authority.

He said for the past 15 years Asiana has been losing money in the CNMI.

Mr Kim says the airline has launched new daytime flights and started new ventures to prevent its airline service from collapsing.

He says with their 11 daytime flights, an estimated 70,000 more Koreans are expected to visit the CNMI next year.
