Tonga flanker earns dubious distinction

10:12 am on 19 September 2007

Tonga flanker, Hale T-Pole, has been suspended for one match by the Rugby World Cup judiciary after being sent off in the Sea Eagles win against Samoa.

T-Pole was banned for striking and has earned the unwanted distinction of becoming the first player to be shown a red card since they were first introduced at the 2003 World Cup.

Tonga will play South Africa this weekend in Lens.
